Athletics Competitions

It's been a busy and unbelievable week of sport at St. Mark's. We took our Y3-6 athletes to the annual LDCSA Athletics Championships at Wavertree. Over 30 children competed over the course of two days in a range of events. We collectively had 16 1st-3rd finishes! In doing so, the girls managed to win the Merit trophy with the boys also doing well, finishing in 3rd. A special mention to Rhys on winning the high jump, Drilochan on winning the 600m, Alfie on winning the 75m and the Y5 boys on winning the relay race. The behaviour, attitude and determination of all of the children was exceptional. A massive thank you to all of the parents/carers who helped with transport to and from the events.

An enormous well done to our eight athletes who competed at the KSSP Quadkids competition on Wednesday. A difficult competition were each school selects their best eight, (four boys and four girls) all-round athletes to compete in four events. (75m, 600m, long jump and Vortex howler) After some stiff competition and unbelievable effort we managed to finish in 1st place! Which means we will now go on to represent Knowsley at the Merseyside Youth Games on July 5th. A big well done also to Rhys who finished 2nd overall out of the 64 competing athletes. Also, a huge well done to all of the children who have dedicated so much time and effort over the course of the year, it's certainly paid off.
