Coronavirus Updated Message to all Parents/Carers 20/03/2020

Update - Thursday 19th March

Dear Parents / Carers

As you will be aware, Coronavirus is a rapidly changing situation and we have been working with the Department for Education, Public Health England and Knowsley Council to plan for such a pandemic.

As per the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday we have been directed to close our school for most children. We are prepared and ready to respond to this challenge.

We are writing to inform you that school will close on Friday 20th March at 3:10pm and will remain closed until further notice. Parents/carers should check the latest news section of the school website and app for updates, which will be posted as we are provided with information.

Pupils have been provided with work. If they have not already brought a pack home, there are packs available in school. The work will be updated regularly, via the school website and app.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open from Monday 23rd March for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services; we are awaiting confirmation of this list) and children with an EHCP or a social worker – we will contact you separately. There is a survey for you to complete on the school website and/or on the app.

However, we encourage you and your children to continue to follow Public Health England advice on keeping yourselves safe.  Updated information can be found here:

Pupils who are eligible for free school meals should wait for further information about this to be communicated to families when it becomes available to us.

At this difficult time we are still part of the caring, Christian community of St Mark’s and we are thinking of you and your families even if we are unable to see you in the near future. If you need to talk to us about any concerns you have please call or e-mail school and one of us will get back to you.

Yours sincerely

R Coakley
