Welcome to our Year 2 Class Page. Mrs Rigby, Mrs Luff, Miss Ashton and I are so excited for the year ahead. We are going to be very busy learning lots of new things and having fun!

Key Information
Reading
Children will read every Tuesday and Wednesday with an adult and Children’s books will be changed on this day. Children are given a reading books to take home with their Reading Record. Please comment in the planner when you have listened to your child read. Children will also be sent home with a Read Write Inc phonics reading book, this will be changed every second Friday.
Homework
Spelling homework will be sent home every Monday. Their spellings are made up of 6 words linked to your child’s phonics for the week and 5 of the Year 2 Common Exception Words. Any additional maths and English homework will be sent home also on a Monday and can be returned any day of that week. Homework is kept to a minimum ensuring the children are given lots of opportunity to read at home.
Water bottles and Snack
It would be brilliant if every child has a named, water bottle in school to enable them to drink as much as possible. Snack is provided for the children in Year 2 so they do not need to bring in their own. However, if they do wish to bring in a snack this must be a healthy snack such as fruit or a cereal bar.
PE
Our PE days for Autumn term are Thursday and Friday. Children will need to come in to school wearing their PE kit on these days. They will keep this on for the whole day.
